| Genesis Lutheran Church is a congregation that resulted from a merger of three Lutheran congregations from the East side of Detroit, Michigan. The three congregations were Grace Lutheran Church, St. Luke Lutheran Church and St. Mark Lutheran Church. |

Our History TimelineMay 1982 – July 1982: Preliminary “merger” interest discussions October 6, 1982: Establishment of a “Futures” committee – three members from each congregation to share knowledge and ideas for moving forward November 15, 1982: Pastor Skip Wachsmann accepts the call to be the pastor of a Tri-Point Parish March 27, 2983: St. Mark has its last service at the former site June 26, 1983: St. Luke has its last service at the former site July 10, 1983: The first Sunday all three churches worship together on a permanent basis October 30, 1983: Genesis Luther Church becomes an organized congregation with a celebration “Charter Sunday” service June 8, 1986: A “ground breaking” ceremony is held at the new church site January 29, 1989: Dedication services held of the new church building of 7200 Mack Ave. |
